The vicar (minister) with pastoral responsibility for St Lawrence Church, Bradwell: The Reverend Philip Dunning (Phil)

I moved to Milton Keynes and started work with Bradwell and the Stantonbury Ecumenical partnership in September 2024. I came having previously trained for ministry in Bristol and pastoring a single Baptist church in Cardiff for the past 20 years.

I’m excited to be a Baptist Minister in an Ecumenical setting, and very much enjoy ministering across the denominations – bringing churches together to demonstrate the love of God to everyone and working together.

I’m married to Veronica who shares my passion to bring people together and support ministry to everyone. Together we also support our son who has special needs and we want to promote acceptance and community to all.

*Please note Phil is off-duty Tuesdays and is not available. (he does have to swop days on occasion)

Philippians 4:4 says this ‘Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.’

I wonder if the Philippians were a disheartened lot that they needed to be told to remember the Good News of Jesus. And told again and again. Certainly if we allow ourselves to be bombarded by bad news we will have be to be reminded, again and again. Rejoicing isn’t just jumping around or dancing, parties or celebrations, or even putting on a brave face when your heart is broken. Rejoicing is a growing act. It leads to a deep and inner conviction that the love of God in Jesus is real and for all.
